MINUTES OF SELECTMEN MEETING – January 22, 2018 4:00 PM

Council on Aging was asked to meet with the Board of Selectmen to discuss a salary increase request for the “Outreach Worker” from $14/hr to $16/hr. Dave Spidal stated that when the program was put into place in 2015 the Council on Aging board was not aware of what a fair and equitable salary should have been. Currently, the salary is being funding by a state grant of $5,000. Steve went over the process of how salaries are approved at town meeting. However, given that all payroll is funded by a state grant the selectboard decided salary decisions belong to the Council on Aging. That would not be the case if monies were appropriated by the town.
Jeff questioned the usage of the Emergency Management trailer. Tolland was awarded a grant to purchase a traffic trailer. Jeff was uncertain if it would be cost effective to continue to equip the Emergency Management trailer or sell the trailer. Jeff, Eric and Ed will meet to discuss and decide on the trailers.
Sue requested that the Annual Town Meeting date be rescheduled from May 7th to May 14th. Eric stated that they are trying to be consistent with prior years so the meeting will remain on the 7th.
